This role is critical in supporting the delivery of existing sustainable services and driving the development of new sustainability-focused innovations across the Crown businesses. Our aspiration is to maintain Crown Workspace’s reputation as a sustainability leader in its field, while helping all Crown brands become recognised as progressive and responsible within their respective industries. A key part of this role involves working on our charitable initiative The Giving Back Project, focused on the donation of client’s assets and volunteering opportunities for staff. In addition, working on the climate and environment pillar by supporting net zero, circular economy, resource efficiency and waste management plans across all the UK&I brands, helping drive more environmentally responsible practices across the business. The role will be constantly developing as we build on our aspiration and will vary from hands on management of reuse and charity partners, through to strategy development, supporting the commercial teams, speaking to clients, and reporting on sustainability achievements. This is a dynamic role that evolves with our ambitions – ranging from hands-on management of reuse and charity partnerships to strategic development, client engagement and sustainability reporting. The Sustainability Advisor will work closely with the Head of Sustainable Development and the Senior Sustainability Consultant to deliver the objectives of Crown Worldwide UK&I. Key Responsibilities Circular economy and waste innovation • Support the implementation of a UK&I-wide circular economy framework, continually researching and identifying additional reuse outlets and supporting clients to embed circular economy principles. • Ensure high recycling rates in client projects and internal operations by working closely with suppliers and reporting outcomes to management with recommendations for improvement. • Work on sustainable procurement initiatives across internal operations and client projects to evidence our leadership in this area, aligned to circular sourcing principles. Social impact • Support the management of the Giving Back Project, strategically growing the partner base, building relationships, and increasing the volume of donated items from client workspaces. • Lead the increased use of staff volunteering hours by arranging opportunities, growing strategic charity relationships, and organising team days aligned with Crown UK&I’s Social Impact Strategy. • Support the implementation of Crown UK&I’s Social Impact Strategy through both client projects and internal initiatives. Reporting and policy • Support and complete submissions for external reporting platforms such as CDP, EcoVadis and our Annual Sustainability Report. • Assess emerging legislation and policy developments to identify strategic opportunities and areas for innovation, ensuring the business remains informed and responsive to the evolving sustainability landscape. Communication and thought leadership • Collaborate with the marketing team to create and share compelling sustainability content for internal and external audiences. • Represent Crown at industry events and webinars, contributing thought leadership on circular economy and sustainability innovation. Training and engagement • Engage and upskill staff on the sustainability agenda by co-designing and delivering training programmes with the Senior Sustainability Consultant, covering topics on carbon, social sustainability and other topics to staff and relevant external stakeholders. • Working to innovate with all Crown UK&I brands to introduce sustainability into their services, carrying out research to establish routes forward in their journeys. Skills & Experience • Educated to degree level in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Geography or relevant relatable studies. • Ideally two or more years’ work experience, preferably working within a sustainability, charity, voluntary or relevant area where you have built on knowledge or passion for the subject. • Ability to plan, research, co-ordinate and demonstrate confidence in knowledge and understanding of key subject areas. • Experience of co-ordinating projects or initiatives where you have worked with a variety of stakeholders and managed the activities and communications . • Strong communication skills and ability to produce written reports and information for a variety of audiences. • Proficient in Microsoft programmes including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. • Able to demonstrate drive and passion for sustainability, climate change and/or the circular economy.
